About Us
First Steps Early Childhood Services, Inc. is a New York State approved agency service that provides Early Intervention and Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) services to children and families in Nassau County.
First Steps was founded in 2004 with the goal of
providing high quality services with personal attention. When
parents call, they are able to speak directly with a licensed
professional who knows their child.
The owners and directors of the agency are:
Marianne K. Budronis , M.S., Ed., S.A.S., S.D.A.,
is the former principal of the Association for Children with Down
Syndrome school in Plainview, N. Y. She spent more than 22 years
at ACDS in a variety of positions including director of the day
care program and as a consultant on educational programming to
schools districts. She is the director of First Steps ABA program.
Leslie Nathanson, M.S., is the former Early Intervention
Director of the Association for Children with Down Syndrome school.
She spent more than 23 years with the school and served in several
capacities including classroom teacher, Early Intervention educational
evaluator, parent educator and coordinator of the Infant Program.
Karen Seltzer, L-MSW, is the former Director of
Social Work at the Association for Children with Down Syndrome
School. Prior to ACDS, she worked in The Little Village School's
Early Intervention program coordinating evaluations and services.
She serves on the Nassau County Local Early Intervention Coordinating
Council as the co-chair of the Transition Committee.

First Steps assists children in working towards typical developmental
milestones. We are committed to providing the highest quality
evaluation and therapeutic services.
We
believe that including parents and family members in the therapeutic
process is essential in ensuring a child’s success.
The Early Intervention Program is funded and regulated by the New York State Dept. of Health and, in Nassau County, by the Nassau County Dept. of Health. CPSE services are funded by the New York State Dept. of Education and, in Nassau County, by the Nassau County Dept. of Health.
