Plus - The National Library of Medicine, a part of the National
Institutes of Health, created and maintains MedlinePlus to assist
parents and consumers in locating authoritative health information.
MedlinePlus pages contain carefully selected links to Web resources
with health information on over 740 topics. The A.D.A.M. Medical
Encyclopedia brings health consumers an extensive library of medical
images as well as over 4,000 of articles about diseases, tests,
symptoms, injuries, and surgeries.
The
National Institute of Child Health and Human Development -The
NICHD was initially established to investigate the broad aspects
of human development as a means of understanding developmental
disabilities, including mental retardation, and the events that
occur during pregnancy. Today, the Institute conducts and supports
research on all stages of human development, from preconception
to adulthood, to better understand the health of children, adults,
families, and communities.
New
York State Department of Health Early Intervention Program
- The New York State Early Intervention Program (EIP) is part
of the national Early Intervention Program for infants and toddlers
with disabilities and their families. First created by Congress
in 1986 under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
(IDEA), the EIP is administered by the New York State Department
of Health through the Bureau of Early Intervention. In New York
State, the Early Intervention Program is established in Article
25 of the Public Health Law and has been in effect since July
1, 1993.
To be eligible for services, children must be under
3 years of age and have a confirmed disability or established
developmental delay, as defined by the State, in one or more of
the following areas of development: physical, cognitive, communication,
social-emotional, and/or adaptive.

York State Department of Health Child Health Plus Program
- New York State has a health insurance plan for kids, called
Child Health Plus. Depending on your family's income, your child
may be eligible to join either Children's Medicaid or Child Health
Plus . Both Children's Medicaid and Child Health Plus are available
through dozens of providers throughout the state.

Zero
To Three
Zero To Three's mission is to support the healthy
development and well-being of infants, toddlers and their families.
It is a national nonprofit multidisciplinary organization that
advances our mission by informing, educating and supporting adults
who influence the lives of infants and toddlers. The organization
is 30 years old and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Zero To Three offers publications, training, news
and support to families of young children. It is also a leader
in research to enrich and assist the development of children ages
birth to three.
